Stay Quenched This Summer

Stay Quenched This Summer

While the higher temperatures are a welcome change, summer is also synonymous with sweating. This excess production of perspiration can leave us dehydrated and depleted of electrolytes. While we always advise to stay hydrated, it’s essential to do so with the rising numbers on the thermometer. We have a few foolproof ways to avoid drying out this summer season.

  1. Drink 1 liter of water upon waking up. This might sound like a task, but we find that leaving a full water bottle preset on your nightstand will not only remind you of this item on your to-do list but also have it ready to go while you get ready in the morning.
  2. Keep drinking 2-3 more liters of water throughout the day. This number might fluctuate higher depending on whether you spend a lot of time outside or are doing a particularly sweaty workout.
  3. Keep tabs on the color of your urine. Ideally, it should be pale yellow. If you see anything darker, this indicates that your body is dehydrated, so you should drink more water right away.
  4. Add a dash of salt to your water. Salt allows your body to absorb water more efficiently while replacing essential salts lost during sweating.
  5. After a hard workout where you have been sweating a lot, add in an LMNT sachet to your water bottle to replace that depleted sodium chloride and lost electrolytes.
  6. Consume water-rich foods like cucumber, watermelon, and celery throughout the course as snacks or as a part of your main meals.
  7. This may sound simple, but drink a glass of water if you feel parched. It’s tempting to reach for a soda or juice, but water will keep you quenched while avoiding further dehydration or an unwanted blood sugar spike.
  8. Make sure to end your day with SWW® Restore Replenishing Minerals. One sachet mixed with water will replace your lost electrolytes, so you retain water more effectively, reducing the urge to get up for a midnight bathroom break.
  9. Filter your water. Your water quality matters. Using a filter like The Berkey will reduce the number of chemicals and harmful minerals you ingest.
