SWW® Travel Mini Meals

SWW® Travel Mini Meals

Travel days can be brutal. Between the stress of packing, getting out of the house on time, wrangling your kids, and all the delights of flight delays…nutrition can often fall to the back burner. Giving into the ease of airport food or fast food on the road might be tempting when juggling many other things. The issue is that these offerings 9/10 times lack nutritional value and come with an exorbitant price tag. With a bit of extra preparation, you and your family can stay on track with your health with our SWW® approved travel mini meals. The tying thread between all these hearty snacks is that protein is the star of the show. These simple combos will allow you to arrive at your destination feeling energized, satisfied, and, most importantly, without regrets.
  1. Apple slices and nut butter pouches - this is a crowd pleaser (especially for your younger travel companions). The good thing about this snack is that it’s the easiest one to source on the road. While airports are stocked with junk food, odds are you will be able to find an apple if you forget to slice one up ahead of time. We recommend keeping a few nut butter pouches on hand wherever you go. They come in handy when you’re in a pinch.
  2. Crudite and Hummus—This is another combo that can be easily prepped at home or sourced in the wild if you are in a bind. We recommend finding a hummus that doesn’t use seed oils.
  3. Meat Sticks—We love these for their ease and convenience. They hardly take up any room in your bag and will tide you over until your next big meal.
  4. Hard-boiled eggs—If you are traveling with your family, just prep a half dozen the night before and throw them in a Ziploc or Stasher bag. This is another item that can be easily found in an airport convenience store in a pinch, but we recommend bringing these from home so you can be confident that you are using quality, organic eggs.
  5. Leftover Chicken Breast—This might initially sound odd, but it is one of Sarah’s favorite on-the-go travel snacks. Packing up some cut-up chicken breasts from a previous meal is the perfect way to have some home-cooked protein at the tip of your fingers while using up your leftovers before you go on vacation.
  6. Kroma Bone Broth—We love these individual sachets for a quick, nutritious boost when you are strapped for time. Each packet delivers 12 grams of protein and collagen, and all you have to do is add it to hot water.
  7. Nuts—A bag of nuts is an easy way to get protein and healthy fat into your system. Make sure to pre-portion your own or source a single serving. Nuts have an addictive, snackable quality that makes them easy to overindulge.
  8. Siggis Yogurt—We love Siggi’s plant-based yogurt for a low-sugar, high-protein snack. Pair the plain flavor with some fruit, and you’ll be ready for takeoff.
