Why You Should Mineralize

Here’s Why You Should Mineralize

We need minerals for our bodies to function. Minerals are essential for making hormones, building strong bones and teeth, turning food into energy, and controlling cellular fluid. Calcium, chloride, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and sulfur are the major minerals our bodies need, while trace minerals like chromium and copper are needed in smaller amounts.

Unfortunately, many of us are not meeting our body’s mineral needs. In a US National Survey, 52.2% of people did not meet the daily requirement for magnesium, while 44.1% did not meet the daily requirement for calcium

To make sure you’re getting the minerals your body needs, here are a few of our favorite foods and supplements to get you there.

  1. Nuts and seeds: These are packed with magnesium, copper and zinc, among many other minerals.
  2. Cruciferous veggies: Hearty veggies like broccoli and cauliflower are rich in sulfur.
  3. Cacao: We love adding cacao to our smoothies and for good reason—it’s a great source of magnesium and copper
  4. Berries: We love berries for their sweetness, fiber and blood-sugar balancing, but we also love them for their potassium and magnesium, too!
  5. Shellfish: Packed with selenium, zinc, copper, and iron, shellfish like oysters, clams and mussels are a delicious way to get your minerals.
  6. Avocados: A rich source of potassium, avocados can be enjoyed at least once a day with either breakfast, lunch or dinner
  7. Mineral supplements: While we take a food-first approach at SWW, it can be difficult to meet all of your mineral needs in one day. Our SWW™ Restore Replenishing Minerals is our favorite ways to unwind at the end of the day.
